Smoke School Lecture CD.
Traditional smoke schools generally have an all-day classroom lecture prior to conducting the field certification event. AeroMet is the first and only company to replace the all-day lecture with an audio visual CD that is viewable on any standard computer. Aeromet's Smoke School lecture CD is provided in advance of the field certification event and can be viewed at your own pace when your time allows. This cost effective way of securing the necessary training and documentation procedures eliminates the hidden costs and lost productivity associated with traditional all-day classroom lectures. We have made great efforts to make the content of the smoke school lecture CD as clear and thorough as possible. If you ever have any questions regarding the content of the smoke school lecture CD, you can call our support staff during regular business hours to address any questions you may have. There is no charge for this service if you purchased a lecture CD.
First-Time Observer Orientation At Public Smoke Schools
AeroMet offers a free orientation session prior to each public smoke school event. This 30 minute period is intended to provide new opacity observers with proper positioning and viewing techniques for the EPA Method 9 certification test.
½ Day Smoke School.
AeroMet personnel not only operate the smoke generators, they build
them. This hands-on approach keeps mechanical problems to a minimum,
resulting in little if any downtime during a training event. Because
we monitor our emissions with a computer, we are able to maintain
precise opacity values during our smoke schools. This makes the
testing procedure more consistent for our clients, and is reflected in
our >85% pass rate on the initial certification test. Typically,
field certifications are completed for everyone in attendance in less
than two hours. Our smoke schools are not easy; they meet or exceed
all US EPA Method 9 testing requirements. But we have eliminated
the guesswork out of the certification process and made it a true test
of your opacity observation abilities.
After successful
completion of any Aeromet smoke school, you will be certified to
conduct EPA Method 9 observations. As prescribed by EPA Method
9, all smoke school certifications are valid for 6 months.

Smoke School Cost.
Aeromet's smoke school certification costs are the lowest in the country. Because our experience has enabled us to develop an efficient and innovative smoke school program, we are able to maintain low costs that remain profitable for us and cost-effective for our clients. Our rate for field certification is $170/person. Our lecture CD is $35/copy with a paid field registration and $70/copy without. Despite increases in labor rates and expenses over the past two decades, our smoke school registration fees have only increased 14% over the course of 20 years.

AeroMet will gladly make arrangements to arrive directly at your facility and conduct an on-site smoke school session exclusively for your employees. Smoke School Registration.
Registration for our public smoke schools is easy. You can use our secure online registration form to register for any public smoke school. You may also call, fax or email your registration. We will gladly assist you with any questions you may have during the registration process. Please register at least 10 days before the training event.
What To Bring.
Black or blue ink pens, a clipboard, protective cover for the testing form in the event of precipitation, a lawn chair and weather appropriate clothing.
Smoke School Weather Policy.
AeroMet will run in virtually all types of weather conditions except for those which are unsafe for our clients or significantly reduce background visibility. If either of these conditions exist, we will delay starting until they are more favorable. Cancellation Policy.
If you have registered for a public smoke school and are unable to attend, you may attend another public smoke school during the same season for no extra charge. If you are unable to attend, but would like to substitute another person from your company, you may also do so at no extra charge.
