About Aeromet's Smoke School
Smoke School Lecture CD.
Traditional smoke schools typically have an all-day classroom lecture prior to conducting the field certification event. AeroMet is the first and only company to eliminate the all-day lecture by providing the required training on an audio visual CD that is viewable on any standard computer. At your request, the lecture CD is provided in advance of the field certification event and can be viewed at your own pace when your time allows. This cost effective way of securing the necessary training eliminates the hidden costs and lost productivity associated with traditional two-day smoke schools. For more information on our lecture CD, click here.
Lecture CD Support.
We have made great efforts to make the content of the lecture CD as clear and concise as possible. However, if you have any questions regarding the content of the smoke school lecture CD, you can call our support staff during regular business hours to address and questions you may have. There is no charge for this service if you purchased a lecture CD.
First-Time Observer Orientation.
AeroMet offers an orientation session prior to each public field certification event. This 30 minute period is intended to provide new smoke readers with proper positioning and viewing techniques for the certification test.
½ Day EPA Method 9 Certification.
AeroMet personnel not only operate the smoke generators, they build them. This hands-on approach keeps mechanical problems to a minimum, resulting in little if any downtime during a training event. In addition, because we monitor our emissions with a computer, we are able to maintain precise opacity values during testing. This makes the testing procedure more consistent for our clients, as reflected in our >85% pass rate on the initial certification test. Typically, field certifications are completed for everyone in attendance in less than two hours. Our certification test is not easy; it conforms to all USEPA Method 9 testing requirements. But we have eliminated the guesswork out of the certification process and made it a true test of your smoke observation abilities.
After successful completion of our opacity observation test, you will be a certified EPA Method 9 observer. As prescribed by EPA Method 9, your certification is valid for 6 months.
AeroMet's Credibility.
AeroMet personnel have been conducting smoke school for over 20 years. All of our smoke schools are conducted in accordance with State and Federal regulations. Our clients, ranging from industry to regulatory personnel, are highly respected for their opacity reading accuracy.
Cost.
Our rates for smoke school are the lowest in the country. Because our experience has enabled us to develop an efficient and innovative program, we are able to maintain low costs that remain profitable for us and cost-effective for our clients. Our rate for field certification is $170/person. Our lecture CD is $35/copy with a paid field registration and $70/copy without. Despite the increase in labor rates and expenses, we have only increased our field certification cost by 14% over the course of 20 years.
